A twitter user,
who goes by the name Ian, twitted about the moment when a man who was seated in
a rush hour train started reading passages from the Holy Bible and the rippling
effect it had on other passengers.
The train
was said to have been stationed outside Wimbledon when a certain man began to
read out Bible verses.
The time was
reported to have been around 8.30 am when terrified passengers began to force their
way out of the train.
The man was
heard reading out expressions such as “death is not the end” as he sat on the
carriage.
Out of
panic, the passengers pushed through the doors and started moving out of the train
which was reportedly travelling from Shepperton to Waterloo.
As the
passengers became scared, they opened the doors in haste, and climbed onto the
tracks; the rail power lines were then cut.
In his
tweet, Ian who was also one of the commuters explained that “the man’s Bible
reading caused a crush and commotion.”
The man
stopped reading the verses when somebody told him that he was scaring
passengers. Ian stated that the man then stood up with his head lowered.
According to
a Network Rail spokesman, “Passengers self-evacuated off a train and on to the
tracks at Wimbledon this morning after a passenger incident.”
The
spokesman also added that the British Transport Police are investigating the
incident and further confirmed that there were no injuries to passengers or
staff.
