A
77-year-old man, James Allen, has been under arrest for raping his
step-granddaughter after the 20-year-old woman posted a video online of him
raping her while she was drunk.
The victim,
whose identity is not revealed, was reportedly warped with alcohol by Allen and
when she was woozy, he raped her at his home in Marblehead, Ohio.
The young
lady’s friends saw the footage on social media platform and called police in
Marblehead, Ohio. The
friend had asked officers to conduct a welfare check in the early hours of the
morning which led to the arrest and arraignment of Allen Tuesday morning.
When police
came to the house, officers were allowed in by Mr. Allen who led them upstairs
where they saw the molested woman in an impaired state. The victim was taken for
medical attention and was later discharged.
Police have
confirmed that the woman was allegedly raped by her step-grandfather. Authorities
say the young woman was intoxicated at the time after being given alcohol by
her grandmother's new partner.
They also
added that the young lady was seen in the clip, several times, protesting
against Mr. Allen’s sexual advances.
According to
the police chief of Danbury Township, Michael Meisler, the woman was staying
with her grandmother and Allen at the time of the alleged sexual misconduct.
Ottawa
County Prosecutor, James VanEerten, has said he believes the footage clearly
shows a sexual assault taking place. According to him, it is not clear if the
victim live-streamed the attack or uploaded the video after.
VanEerten
further says it seems the woman was impaired as she recorded the video.
The
77-year-old grandpa is being held on a $1 million bond. He appeared in court on
Wednesday and told a judge that he did not have an attorney but had plans on
hiring one.
