With the
increasing growth in the spate of attacks meted out on former lovers by their
Exes, people should begin to become more careful whenever they are dealing with
their old flames.
It has been
proven true quite too often that there is a thin line between love and hate. If
not, how could it be that two people who had been in love with each other would
suddenly develop so much hatred for each other such that one of the parties
might want to take the other person’s life?
Such was the
case with a 32-year-old South African lady, Siphokazi Khumalo, who was stabbed to her death by a former
lover inside the bathroom of a newly opened shopping mall.
Siphokazi
was said to have had an altercation with her estranged boyfriend which at a
point made her to run into the restroom of Ballito Junction Regional Mall on
October 18. Her former boyfriend, who has not been named, went after her and
attacked her with a knife and left her lying in a pool of her own blood.
Loud screams
drew the attention of the staff and other shoppers who went towards the
direction of the bathroom to find out what was going on.
When the
victim was discovered, she reportedly had one of her arms stretched over her
face making it possible for eyewitnesses to see the deep wound she sustained
from the knife attack. She reportedly had her throat slit ‘from ear to ear’ by
her attacker.
The suspect
was seen coming from the attack scene, well dressed, and walking out calmly. He
was reported to have shown no shred of emotion and had his arms stretched out
before him as though in readiness for being handcuffed.
The 30-year-old
alleged attacker was said to have been captured by two onlookers who held onto
him as they awaited police arrival. He was later arraigned in court last Friday
and a murder case was booked against him. The motive for the murder remains
unknown, authorities say.
Family and
friends of the deceased have taken to various social media platforms such as
Twitter and Facebook to express their grief. They have described Miss Khumalo
as extremely loveable and kindhearted.
RIP to her.
