The
beautiful thing about life is that each new day comes with new surprises. No
matter how vast anyone is in knowledge, they always find out there’s something
they are just getting to learn for the very first time.
This is
exactly what happened in the city of Tecoman in Mexico when doctors declared
that a 10-month-old child already weighs as much as a 9-year-old at the moment.
Doctors have also said that this would be the first case of such to be recorded
in the city.
The
ten-month-old boy was born a normal child and had a normal weight of a newborn
which reportedly stood at 7 pounds and eleven ounces. Before long, the child
began to rapidly put on weight and as a result, according to the parents, he
also began to struggle with his breathing.
Now, at
10-months, Luis Manuel weighs as much as four stone and 10 pounds which happen
to be the regular weight for a 9-year-old child.
Parents to
the child, Mario Gonzalez, dad, and Isabel Pantoja, mom, think their baby boy
might be suffering from Prader-Willi syndrome which is a form of abnormality
that makes the person diagnosed of it to suffer constant hunger.
After one
month of his birth, Luis’ parents observed that their newly born child could
not fit into his clothes and therefore they resorted to dressing him in clothes
meant for 1-year-olds or older. At that stage, the parents said their child
suffered lack of sleep because it appeared he was suffocating on his excess weight.
The parents,
who have been concerned about their little boy’s condition, have started a fund
raising program to enable them cover the baby’s treatment if he is eventually
diagnosed with the syndrome.
It is
expected that the therapy will cost a whole lot at the end of the day because
it will involve a regular administration of hormone injections on the child.
