A man from
Louisiana has been arrested after he was seen in a video striking his young
daughter with a belt and shaving her head for using a social media app.
Alex
Harrison, 33, of Ferriday in Louisiana, was seen in the footage with a belt
lashing his teenage daughter as a way of punishing her for using Snapchat.
The horrifying
video, which was posted on Facebook and YouTube, shows the father boastfully
whooping the girl as she cries out and screams. The video has generated so much
outrage since it went viral online.
At the
beginning of the footage which was filmed by someone else, Harrison said that
it was punishment for his daughter because she downloaded the social media app.
He was seen striking his daughter with a belt up to 50 times.
The dad was
heard saying in the clip ‘She wanna be grown, she getting her ass whooped and
her hair bald. School is for work not … Snapchat. She ain’t got no business
with no damn snap anyway. Stay tuned.’
A
minute-and-a-half later, he was seen leading the young girl to another room
where he had her head shaved. Afterwards, he forced the humiliated girl to look
into the camera and see herself while she wept.
He then said
to her, ‘Look at me. This is what happens when you get grown. You see that?
This how you do, huh? Look at the camera… This is what you do... Now go in
there and get yourself together... See if you want to be grown.’

Harrison was recently arrested for cruelty shortly after he shared the video on
social media platforms. According to Investigator Bo Stevens, there is a proper
way to discipline a child, ‘this was above and beyond that. This was abuse.’
