24-year-old
Maria Velez is a good looking officer with the Cleveland police department. Before
taking a job with Cleveland police, she resigned her position as teacher’s aide
in an elementary school.
Valez has
been indicted with sexual misconduct involving an underage schoolboy while she
worked at Clark Elementary School in 2015. She had been accused of having sex
with a 13-year-old boy several times between March and December 2015, according
to reports.
Her
indictment came last week bothering on sexual battery and intimidation of a
crime victim charges. The pretty officer had been charged with 3 counts of
sexual assault. There were also 2 counts of attempted tampering with evidence
and two counts of intimidating a crime victim.
Prior to her
indictment, Velez was arrested last month following allegations brought against
her that she was involved in a sexual affair with a pupil while she worked at
the school as an instructional assistant at the time.
Two months
ago, Internal Affairs unit of the police in Cleveland began to investigate the
alleged sexual misconduct which was said to have happened in 2015. Detectives
discovered that the accused officer tried to truncate the facts of the probe by
telling the assault victim to lie about what happened between them.
Following
her last month arrest, Valez has been suspended without pay from her job as a
patrol officer in the Cleveland police department. Her arraignment is scheduled
for December 7.
In the
meantime, municipal district school authorities in Cleveland have said that
they had no record of sexual misconduct issues against Valez while she worked
in the school system, a report said.
