He was a
friend of the girl’s family and had been entrusted with looking after her for
short periods of time. But instead of being the true friend the family thought
he was, Brijeshkumar Barot turned a wolf that preyed on their 12-year-old
daughter.
37-year-old
Barot was found guilty of rape and sexual assault of a child under the age of
13, at Southwark Crown Court. He was subsequently jailed for 15 years on
Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
Barot had
raped and sexually assaulted the young girl at his address in Harrow between
December 2014 and February 2015. The victim, who was 12 at the time of the
offenses, happened to be a daughter to a family friend of Barot, who had
entrusted him with the responsibility of taking care of their young child
periodically.
In July
2015, Barot was arrested following a report of abuse made by the girl’s family
to the police. He pleaded guilty in January this year to possession of extreme
pornographic material, and then on Monday, May 8, he as well pleaded guilty to
possession of indecent images of children.
In the
course of the investigation, extreme pornographic materials were discovered in
Barot's phone after it was seized. These despicable materials were found during
routine examination of the phone.
Consequently,
the accused was charged with multi-count charges of possession of extreme
pornographic material relating to animals and possession of indecent images of
children, alongside rape and sexual assault of a minor.
