41 Nigerians Deported From UK Over Immigration Offences

UK government early yesterday morning deported 41 Nigerians over various immigration offences.

The deportees comprising 33 males and eight females were brought into Nigeria through the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, at 8am with a chartered aircraft.

Findings show that some of the offences of the deportees include expired and fake travel documents and illegal entry into the UK.

It was also gathered that some of them had sought for asylum status in the UK, which was not granted by the immigration authorities, and some before the deportation had spent between two and 24 years in the UK.

Some of the deportees were later seen loitering around the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) gate while others tried to make telephone contact to some of their family members to take them out of the airport.
