The federal
government has said that a mobile e-collection platform will soon be launched
for ease remittance of funds into the treasury single account.
The
implementation of the TSA is made possible through the remita, a technology
platform that links all banks through the central bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the
office of the accountant general of the federation.
The brain
behind the remita platform John Obaro said the TSA is a minimal requirement for
good economic planning and cash management.
According to
Obaro while responding to newsmen; “the remita creates a platform for relevant
agencies of government to be able to have a bold view of all the movement of
funds, now the government can begin to speak of improved operational processes
and utilization of the massive data that is readily available to government”.
Mr Obaro
also said that all the challenges currently facing the TSA will soon be
surmounted in the coming weeks when the new e-collection platform is rolled
out.
Latest data
from the office of the accountant general of the federation states that after
18 months full implementation of the TSA, a total of 5.2trillion naira has been
remitted from MDAs.
