A drunken
teenage girl was gang-raped by 3 men, but she only discovered what happened after
Police found a video of the incident six weeks later.
The 16-year-old
was shocked to learn she had been gang raped at a house party when the police
came to her with uncovered 17-minute-long GoPro footage of the disparaging
incident.
Reports have
it that the 3 men - Kurt Stevenson, 26, Tristan Carlyle-Watson, 26, and Andrew Waters,
24, jointly raped the teenager when she attended a Sydney house party she was
invited to via Facebook in May 2015.
The assaulted
girl had reportedly asked Carlyle-Watson to take care of her because she didn’t
know anyone. She smoked cannabis and drank alcohol to such an extent that she
could not be able to give her consent.
Sharon
Harris, the prosecutor, has said on Wednesday that one man can be heard in the
video bragging, ‘One by one we’ll all get a f**k.’ She also observed that
another said, ‘I’ll get this f***ing party started c***,’ after the victim had
told them she was tired and needed to sleep.
The girl
couldn't remember what actually happened. She could only recollect waking up in
the morning being molested by the one she trusted. But, she finally found out
after police officers tracked her down and revealed that a group of men had sex
with her.
The 3 accused
men have each pleaded not guilty to the multiple charges including aggravated
sexual assault in company and inflicting bodily harm.
During a
recent hearing at Downing Centre District Court, lawyer to Stevenson, Michael
Smith, said that his client had consensual sex with the girl, and had no idea
the act was being filmed, and that his client had on numerous occasions told
the others to get out.
Layer to
Waters, Peter Little, said that there was an issue of consent and that from the
clip, the girl can be seen co-operating.
Carlyle-Watson’s
lawyer, Paul Glissan, in his own submission said the girl was, ‘actively
participating in the sex.’
The trial is
still on course.
