The bride
might have been glowing in white – but all eyes were on the usher Prince Harry
and his girlfriend Meghan Markle at a Caribbean wedding this weekend.
The new
couple attended the wedding of Harry’s best friend and wingman Tom ‘Skippy’
Inskip in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
And their
affectionate displays of affection left guests wondering if there might be
another royal wedding on the cards soon.
But the
location was all too familiar to Meghan who married her first husband – film
producer Trevor Engleson – at a resort just 60 miles away down the coast in
2011.
Here we look
at how the couple spent their romantic weekend…
The Bride
and groom
Prince Harry
has been close friends with Skippy, 30, a management consultant, since they met
at Eton school.
He’s been
described as the Prince’s wingman – and was at THAT infamously wild weekend in
Las Vegas in 2012.
Skippy has
dated software developer Lara Hughes-Young, 30, for four years.
She’s the
granddaughter of late Conservative MP Michael Hughes-Young who is Lord St
Helens making her official title Honourable Lara Inskip.
The luxury
£5,000 a night resort
Prince Harry
and Meghan stayed at The Round Hill Resort in Montego Bay, according to the
Daily Mail .
The £5,000 a
night resort is made up of a set of cottages and is set in 110 acres of lush
tropical gardens with suites designed by fashion heavyweight Ralph Lauren.
The luxury
resort was built in the 1950s and JFK and Jackie Kennedy went there on
honeymoon.
More
recently, Emma Watson and Sir Paul McCartney have been guests.
Prince Harry
flies economy while Meghan takes a private jet
Meghan
jetted into the island on Thursday after borrowing a friend’s private jet to
fly from her home in Toronto, Canada.
Meanwhile,
because the royals don’t use private planes for personal engagements, he took a
Virgin Atlantic flight from Gatwick to Sangster International Airport in
Montego Bay.
The prince
did splash out on a premium economy seat though, costing upwards of £2,000 for
a return.
Meghan Markle’s wedding guest outfit
She might be a famous actress, but the last thing Meghan wanted to do was upstage the bride.
So the 35 year old chose an understated floral maxi dress for the occasion
The £1,200
high-neck dress is by Canadian designer Erdem – a favourite with Michelle
Obama.
She wore the
dress with £249 gold-rimmed Dior sunglasses and carried a nude clutch bag.
Celebrity
guests
Prince Harry
wasn’t the only royal at the wedding.
His aunt
Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, was also in attendance. She is said to
have been accompanied by her daughter Eugenie.
Olympic
champion Usain Bolt is rumoured to have attended the reception.
Moonwalking
Prince Harry sends tray of drinks flying
Prince Harry
sent a tray of drinks flying across a dance floor as he celebrated his best
friend’s wedding by moonwalking to Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean.
After the
wedding party had watched the groom and bride enjoy their first dance as man
and wife, Harry showed of his moves to the King of Pop’s hit song.
But as he
attempted to mimic Jackson’s famous moonwalk, the Prince, 32, bundled into a
waitress sending her and her tray of drinks flying.
An insider
said: “Harry was mortified. Everyone was cheering him until he banged into the
girl.
“He quickly
grabbed hold of her to make sure she was ok and couldn’t apologise enough.
Meghan and the girls were in stitches.
“It’s rare
Harry has the chance to let his hair down with all his friends and so he makes
the most of it when he can.
“He’d had a
few drinks and was getting very close with Meghan. They looked very in love.”
The source
added: “Whoever planned the event didn’t let the guests down. It was a
brilliant time.
“The drinks
never stopped flowing all night. Harry and Meghan left the party at 1am before
the hardcore revellers left at 3.30am.
"There
were a few sore heads in the morning.”
