A clever guy
Terry, from Australia, proposed to his girlfriend with an engagement ring she'd
been wearing for an entire year.
This is how
he did it:
Terry found
a ring he thought his girlfriend Anna would like sometime last year. He made a
wooden necklace for Anna in which he hid the treasured item.
Terry gave
Anna the necklace on their one-year anniversary and she loved it. Anna wore it
every day but Terry was a bit worried about the risky venture.
Earlier this
month, both lovebirds travelled to Smoo Cave in Scotland - a place they'd both
wanted to visit for some time. Terry suddenly asked Anna to lend him the
necklace for a photo shoot. While pretending to shoot, he broke the seal with a
knife, and exposed the ring.
Anna was both
pleased terrified. After she calmed down she suddenly stopped moving, stared at
Terry and said,
'Wait… it’s
been in there the entire time?!! I could have lost it you f***ing idiot!!'
Explaining
the event, Terry told Metro,
"I had
always loved the idea of giving someone a gift where they didn’t know its true
value. I also wanted to start doing wood carving.
"There
were some occasions where I was really worried. At one point, I thought she was
going to trade it with a blacksmith at a market (the blacksmith loved the
necklace, and she loved the blacksmith’s work) but luckily I didn’t need to
crash tackle her.
"My
biggest moment of panic was when we went through airport security the first
time. I hadn’t thought about the fact that she might be asked to put it through
the X-Ray, which could have very quickly turned into an airport security
proposal!"
Nobody wants
an emergency airport proposal.
Luckily, the
trick paid off; the ring remained sealed and Terry's plan undisclosed until the
appointed time.
"She
stood there dazed for a second, trying to work out what was going on,"
said Terry.
When it
dawned on her, she said yes.
