Nigeria’s
former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said suspended
Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Amb. Ayo Oke, did
not spend “a kobo” on ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign in 2015.
Mr.
Fani-Kayode took to his twitter handle on Monday to state that Oke did not
sponsor Jonathan’s campaign.
President
Muhammadu Buhari had recently suspended Oke for saying NIA owned the $43million EFCC
recovered in a residential apartment at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos.
According to
reports, the money recovered at the apartment was alleged to be the remainder of
Jonathan’s campaign funds.
The former
Minister stressed that the reports were aimed at tarnishing the image of the
suspended NIA Director General.
“The attempt
to rubbish the DG of the NIA and destroy him by certain elements in government
will fail. He did not spend one kobo on GEJ’s campaign.” Fani-Kayode wrote.
