Matt Grodsky
and Laura Scheel first met in Preschool when they were 3-year-olds and went
their separate ways for the elementary school. Although so much happened along
the way, the pair reconnected back in High school and rekindled the flame that
once burnt between them.
Matt and
Laura eventually got married in 2016 and are living the reality that was once a
far-fetched dream.
Telling the
story of their journey so far, Matt relayed how they met at preschool. He said,
‘One of my very first memories is of being 3 years old and standing up in front
of my preschool class, declaring that I would marry her someday.’
He talked
about how Laura taught him to ride the swings, draw rolling hills, and the
'right way' to properly eat string cheese.
Matt further
talked about the fond memories they shared together; memories of playing
hide-and-go-seek, chasing after each other on the playground, and mischievously
staying up during nap time. He said that he was infatuated with Laura as a
child, and still is to this day.
Matt and
Laura lost touch upon entering the Elementary School days. For the next seven
years, they only saw each other’s faces through their families’ annual
Christmas cards.
It was only
when they entered High School that they reconnected by ‘happenstance’ through a
mutual friend. Two weeks after that meeting, they agreed to become boyfriend
and girlfriend and continued dating all through High School. Although they
attended different schools, they stuck together in a long-distance
relationship.
While
attending colleges in different states, they remained inseparable and kept in
touch. In 2015, May 23, Matt proposed to Laura and they eventually tied the
knot in December 2016.
Matt said,
‘I decided to stay true to my preschool pledge and make Laura my wife. I
proposed to her at the place it all began.... our preschool classroom.’
